Royce Williams

June 14, 1928 – October 30, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father Royce Williams at the age of 93.

Royce was born in Leyland, England on June 14, 1928. In 1940, at the age of 12 he was sent to Canada aboard the S.S. Nerissa through the British Wartime Evacuation program and lived with a farming family in Pickering, Ontario until the end of WW2. He attended the Pickering College all boys boarding school and worked on the Hardy farm during the summers. After the war, he went back to England and earned a degree in Geology from the University of Liverpool. He worked in the oil and gas industry for a while and ended up in Calgary where he met and married Brenda Harrison Ross in February 1959. They purchased a home in the brand-new community of North Glenmore and started a family.

Royce always had a passion for education and when the opportunity arose, he got a Master’s degree in Education and became a math teacher working at various public schools around Calgary, eventually ending his career as a principal at the Mount Royal Junior High in 1990.
