Olga Elizabeth (Betty) Kennedy
February 2, 1926 – January 8, 2022
With much love, we celebrate the life of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was predeceased by her husband, Stuart, and her parents Alfred and Margaret Husman. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Sylvia and grandson Ian; son David and grandchildren Aaron (Vanessa) (great grand-children Jackson, Stevie, and Levi), Katie, Gabriela and Avalon; son Alfred and grandsons Graham (Holly), (great-granddaughter Rylan), and Adam (Toni) (great-granddaughter Adalynn); son Robert (Colleen) and grandchildren Kylie and Sean; son Ian. Betty was born in Vancouver but raised on the farm at Standard, Alberta. After graduating from Loma Linda University, California and a brief journalism career Betty returned to Canada, married Stuart, and began a life of many adventures. She was a true Renaissance woman who loved literature, art, music, and lively conversations, all of which she shared with her family. She was also a teacher, entrepreneur, author and artist. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bending the rules whenever possible. Betty has left a legacy of love and determination to us all. Special thanks go to the loving caregivers at Brentwood Intercare and Qualicare, and to her companion and ‘second daughter’ Genet. Her hair and makeup were always done, she was always dressed ‘like the queen’ and she loved being “Mama Betty”. A Private Family Service and interment will be held and an outdoor Celebration of Life will follow in the summer. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the Family, via the website: www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
