John (Frank) Butt

Our much loved Pappy left us to join his beloved wife Anne Marie. Frank had a wonderful life of 93 years and he was taken from us after a short illness. Frank was born and raised in Newfoundland. At a young age he joined the Merchant Marines allowing him to travel the world before joining the First Canadian Signals Corps in 1950. He served across Canada, in Germany and 2 deployments to Egypt for over 30 years; a career in NATO Peacekeeping Force. He met and married the love of his life Anne Marie in 1954 in Kingston, Ont. They moved to Calgary in 1960, settled and raised the family here. He enjoyed summer at Carefree Resort and travelled to Arizona in the winter. Frank is survived by his children Chris, Alannah (Doug) Brenda; grandchildren Lindsay, Devon (Alexandra), Ashlinn (Matthew), Natasha (Jeff), Nathan, Nolan (Emily-Anne); great grandchildren Lochlen, Addison, Paisley and Sadie. He is also survived by his sister Lillian, nephew Jim, and niece Linda. Frank is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Isobel and his brothers Allan and Lloyd (son Mark). A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday April 14, 2022 at 2:00 PM interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
