Ildiko M. Bartha

March 25, 1950 – Budapest, Hungary –
January 22, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my beloved wife, partner, soul-mate and friend Ildikó. She passed-away at the Rockyview Hospital on January 22, 2022.

Ildikó was the only child born to Margaret (Margit) and Stephen (István) Vass on March 25 1950 in Budapest, Hungary. The family emigrated to Canada in 1957 as refugees after the 1956 Revolution. Ildikó spent part of her childhood and all of her adult life in Calgary, Alberta. After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, she attended the University of Calgary graduating and receiving a teaching degree in 1971. After graduating she spent 30 years teaching in the Separate School System in Calgary. Subsequently, Ildikó and Tibor were married in 1973 and the love that united them kept them together for almost 49 years. She will be missed forever and I wish and hope that she is in a Happy Place, where- ever that may be!

Ildikó is survived by her loving husband (of almost 49 years) Tibor and niece Narcis Fekete in Greece and many friends that she has made over the years in Calgary and Europe. She was predeceased by her parents Margaret and Stephen Vass, aunt Maria, uncle Miklós Jancsó and maternal/paternal grandparents in Hungary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly in Ildikós memory to the Calgary Human Society. A memorial will be planned, Covid permitting, for June/July 2022
