Glenda Gay Anderson

Glenda Gay Anderson passed away in her 70th year on November 21, 2021. She is survived by her daughter Kerry, sister Twyla Jenkins (Dale), niece Heather Jenkins (Keith Wakeham), nephew Ken (Cathy) Jenkins, great-nieces Kalynn and Leah, and great-nephew Trent.

Glenda was born on March 7, 1952 to Alf and Barbara (nee Abernethy) Anderson. In 1954, Glenda moved with her parents and older sister Twyla to the house on 30th Street, where she lived the rest of her life. Glenda graduated from the University of Calgary in 1973 with her Bachelor of Education. She taught elementary school, primarily kindergarten and grade 1, her entire career until she retired in 2015.

Glenda dearly loved her family, and adored her only daughter, Kerry, as well as her favourite niece, Heather, and favourite nephew, Ken. In later years, she also enjoyed doting on her great-nieces and great nephew, Kalynn, Leah and Trent.

Besides her family, Glenda also loved her friends, whether lifelong friends such as Elaine or Sandra, her teacher friends, such as David and Carol, or her more recent friends, such as Dawne and Donna and the other “girls” from Cool Choir. She cherished each one.

She also enjoyed animals and had a large number of pets over the years. She spent many happy moments in her yard, often on the deck with a book, as she was a prolific reader.

Glenda will be dearly missed by her loved ones. The family would like to extend great appreciation to the staff at the Chinook Hospice, who cared for her in her last few months.
