Description of Activity: Join us for a zoom dinner/movie/discussion night on Tuesday, October 10 at 6 PM. Our films are chosen for interesting themes that lend themselves to discussion by viewers. Most selected have been award winners at film festivals.
First Up!
Film: My Father’s Violin
After a heartbreaking loss, a girl tries to connect with a distant uncle who shares her passion for music. It is a Turkish award-winning film dubbed in English on Netflix for our showing. It is a film about family relationships and the power of music to overcome adversity.
What better way to come together (virtually) than with friends, former colleagues, and family to have a bite and watch a stimulating movie. Our members love the discussion at the end of the film to share reactions and ideas about the film. If you watch the film at another time, you can still join us for the discussion!
You are encouraged to mark your calendar so you don’t miss it! As soon as you are registered, I will send out the logon info to you with further instructions.
Future dates:
Tuesday Nov 14th – NOBODY KNOWS I’M HERE
Tuesday Jan 16th – WHERE THE TRACKS END
Tuesday Apr 2nd – JAZZMAN’S BLUES
Tuesday May 7th – TBA
TRAILER: My Father’s Violin Trailer
Synopsis:
My Father’s Violin is a 2022 Turkish drama about forgiveness and the importance of family. A concert violinist is forced to confront the past when the young daughter of his estranged brother is put in his reluctant care. Young viewers may struggle briefly with intense emotion, but largely this focuses on the joy of music and the fulfillment of familial love, with a radiant young performer at the centre.
