February Member Movie Night on Zoom

The Penguin Bloom (2020)

Description of Activity:

Join us for a zoom dinner/movie/discussion night on Tuesday February 21st at 6 PM.

Film:  The Penguin Bloom

This film is based on a true story based on the Bloom family that illustrates life’s joys, challenges, tragedies, and triumph.  You will reflect, cry, cheer, and end with an overwhelming desire to talk about it!

What better way to come together (virtually) than with friends, former colleagues, and family to have a bite and watch a stimulating movie.  Our members love the discussion at the end of the film to share reactions and ideas about the film.  If you watch the film at another time, you can still join us for the discussion!

This is our third award winning festival film this season and you are encouraged to mark your calendar so you don’t miss it or our last film in the series Tuesday April 11th.

Future dates:

Tuesday Apr 11th – GIVING VOICE

The Penguin Bloom Synopsis:

Based on the best-selling book of the same name, the film tells the story of Sam Bloom (Academy Award® nominated Naomi Watts) a young mother whose world is turned upside down after a shocking, near-fatal accident leaves her paralyzed. Sam’s husband, (Andrew Lincoln), her three young boys and her mother (Academy Award® nominated Jacki Weaver), are struggling to adjust to their new situation when an unlikely ally enters their world in the form of an injured baby magpie, they name Penguin. The bird’s arrival is a welcome distraction for the Bloom family, eventually making a profound difference on Sam’s life, teaching her how to live again.
