Annie Elizabeth (Bette) Wilson

Annie Elizabeth (Bette) Wilson (nee Cummins) was born in Didsbury, AB on January 31, 1919 and passed away peacefully on August 12, 2021 at the age of 102. Predeceased by her husband James Loudon Wilson in 2005, she leaves to mourn, her son Brian Wilson and daughter Jacki Wilson, her sister Joyce Elfner and many nieces and nephews. Bette grew up in Didsbury with her sister and brothers where she went on to graduate from normal school to become a school teacher. Beginning her career teaching all grades in one-room country schools in Rosebud and Duchess, Alberta, she eventually moved on to teach grades two and three in Calgary. Bette was an avid reader, skater, enjoyed golfing with her many friends and loved to get together with her neighbors for rummoli and crib games. She was thrilled to volunteer at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Her greatest love was children and although she retired many years ago, she stayed involved with children reading with the volunteer Grandparent reading program from 2006 right up to 2020. She lived in the moment, was never shy to express her truth, was very independent and was always happy to strike up a conversation with a complete stranger. Bette was loved and admired by so many and will be sadly missed.
